The primary purpose of this position is to generate the political and public will and resources needed to reduce food insecurity, increase social-economic mobility and build power in marginalized Texas communities. The Director of Policy and Advocacy will oversee the development, expansion, integration, implementation, and impact of Feeding Texas’ public policy-focused advocacy, government relations, and civic engagement initiatives. The Director of Policy and Advocacy ensures that departmental and organizational objectives are met and aligned with each other and with the organization's needs and mission. This role will also develop stronger partnerships and integrations with food banks and outside organizations to achieve shared goals. The position ensures that the organization has the operational strategies, management, partners, and resources to meet near-term and long-term strategic objectives.

The Policy Analyst supports Feeding Texas’ public policy advocacy to advance the organization’s strategic goals by conducting policy research and analysis; providing technical assistance to advocacy staff at member food banks; and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including our national partners, state coalition partners, state agency staff, and policymakers at the state and federal levels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Screen prospective grantee inquiries to determine fit with CGMF priorities• Review grant proposals and reports and ensure content is appropriate and all necessary documents are included• Coordinate and assist grantees with the Foundation’s grantmaking process by requesting additional information when needed, responding to questions, notifying them of the status of their grant, etc.• Manage rejected proposals• Process incoming grants and grant reports by entering all required information into the Fluxx grants management system• Administer the Fluxx grants managements system in coordination with other staff• Monitor budget targets, reconcile program budgets, and keep VP informed of budget status• Monitor spending and deadlines for consulting agreements and foundation initiated projects• Create consulting contracts in consultation with appropriate legal and executive staff• Assign work to consultants, and follow up on the work through regular contact;• Supervise Administrative Assistant• Represent the Foundation by participating in meetings with grantees,collaborators, and consultants• Draft reports for Committee and Board meetings• Draft quarterly newsletter and updates for the Board of Directors• Draft annual report and other communications materials• Stay current on latest sector news and information through contact withgrantees and other experts and by reading reports, press releases, articles, etc.• Research specific topics and prepare reports and visual aids• Manage key operational issues associated with the transition to a fully built-out foundation expected in 2018

- Assisted with operations of the forum, an annual energy event that hosted 450 attendees andremains the largest student-run event at the University- Conducted outreach to potential speakers, communicating forum details and logistics- Collaborated with forum team to develop speakers’ panel on Energy Storage

- Supported Judge Hohengarten on Project Recovery, a program that helped repeat, nonviolentoffenders, often homeless males, transition into productive lives- Assisted with clerical and scheduling needs, managing case files and notes from observed courtproceedings

- Managed and updated the TU Campus Recreation website using software such as AdobePhotoshop and Dreamweaver- Documented programs, recreational games, and sporting events for various media outlets
