I work 15 hours a week at Sullivan Nicolaides in the Haematology department at Bowen Hills. Duties include:- Performing ESR automated testing- Performing HbA1C automated testing including manual preparation on small samples - Follow up of outstanding specimens requiring testing - Unpacking and delivering urgent bone marrow specimens, as well as staining- Manual preparation of blood films- Loading and unloading of samples on the high throughput tube transportation system trackThese tasks require accuracy due to the sensitivity of patient results and efficiency due to the high number of samples processed. Additionally, excellent teamwork and communication skills are required, both between other laboratory assistants and communication with the scientists, due to the diversity of work that must be completed at any given time.
