About Jamie Powers
Currently available. I was the Director of Software & Systems at GALT Aerospace. I have 24 years of experience in software development/leadership primarily in the DoD space working for GALT Aerospace, Northrop Grumman, and Predicate Logic. At GALT I have played a key role in growing the company from a handful of people to over 40+. My contributions have led to multiple winning proposals and follow-ons leading to over $250M in contracts. In 3-years I have put together a team of software, network, and systems engineers that have successfully competed against other major industry players. We have accomplished this through a disciplined approach to software & systems with a focus on DevSecOps, continuous improvement, and collaboration. 10 years of my time at NG was on the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN). Here I worked as a software leader while also spending time in the field supporting and operating the platform learning about airborne communications systems and the unique challenges therein. This experience taught me about RF comms and tactical data links such as Link16, CDL, Inmarsat, SADL, EPLRS, VOIP systems, etc. As one of the software leads, I oversaw three major development cycles and many cyber security/service pack upgrades where I also took these upgrades to the field in an operational context. Before BACN I worked on projects in the CBRN domain, while performing integrations into the GCCS-M/J systems. My role at GALT has been to develop software for airborne communications systems for our government customers. I have been responsible for architecting the systems and software, hiring software engineers, performing and automating DISA STIG compliance to achieve IATT accreditations, and putting together the tools and processes from the ground up. This included setting up and configuring tools; JIRA, BitBucket, Jenkins pipeline including automated builds, deployments, automated testing, static code analysis, and automation tying these tools together. There was no software development at GALT until I built it. I have very actively been participating in ongoing software development. My current technology focuses are on Linux, Docker, Python, Redis, Ansible, and Vue3/JavaScript. The focus is on service-oriented architectures and modern web development tools supporting rapid development. Automation is a key focus to ensure repeatable and maintainable systems allowing for continual improvement. I have become a big believer in Agile development across the entire system as we are building systems-of-systems and not just software.
Listed skills include Integration, Java, Program Management, Information Assurance, and 59 others.
