Responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design, build and continuous improvement of press and factory automation equipment. Systems include press front of lines (FOL), inline blank cleaning and lubrication machines, press end of lines (EOL), automatic racking systems, automated guided vehicles (AGV), automated storage retrieval systems (ASRS), automated quality inspection systems, and additional automation used in manufacturing operations at our North America stamping plants.

Responsible for GMNA Stamping Press FOL Automation

• Responsible for establishing technical direction for manufacturing processes for future vehicle programs within GM stamping operations. • Lead and maintain a global workshare relationship to ensure shared die build strategy and potential savings are maximized for stamping processes across regions.• Responsible for tracking in-house stampings and dies starting with up front engineering processes thru execution to ensure dies are on schedule for a successful vehicle launch.• Project management responsibilities require interfacing with product engineering, product interface, program leadership, program planning, financial, press center, press planning and integration, body assembly, die engineering, die execution, labor relations, die construction suppliers, and stamping plants to ensure programs are successful.• Responsible for managing program investment for in-house dies, which includes budgeting, forecasting, spending and tracking.• Coordination of appropriate resources to ensure engineering throughput is maximized and stamping operations are optimized while maintaining a robust product and process design.

• Responsible for allocation strategy of all truck, crossover and suv programs from program framing to approximately 1 year prior to SORP. This included submissions for Manufacturing Planning Studies.• Responsible for maintaining GMNA Stamping Footprint to optimize demand with available press capacity while minimizing cost. This included annual rebuild of Manufacturing Footprint Optimization Tool and reporting out on stamping capacity utilization.• Key player in determining future stamping visions for plants and plan for timing to execute, and worked with cross functional teams to document manufacturing risk reduction plans.• Lead Stamping Deviation meetings and drove improvement to process through team input, concurrence and rollout of semi-annual updates to joint team leadership.• Lead change and drove support group to eliminate bugs or issues within MPD2 planning system and as acting Stamping Planning SharePoint Site Co-Owner.• Key player in identifying deficiencies encountered in processes, systems or practices and drove to improve by working with cross functional teams as necessary.

• Lead removal of (2) IHI B3 transfer press systems at Grand Rapids Metal Center, and the installation of both at Marion Metal Center during Press Consolidation Project.• Responsible for coordination of daily scheduling activities across two shifts with GM controls engineers, technical service personnel, rigging contractors, electrical contractors, plumbing contractors and plant support personnel to ensure projects stayed on track.• Responsible for coordination and scheduling of additional 3rd party resources as necessary for equipment start-up and verification.• Performed equipment component reviews to ensure all items were environmentally safe for transport and identified properly. This included ensuring that items were packaged properly to avoid damage.• Lead daily safety discussions to ensure team members were aware that safety is our overriding priority and reviewed any incidents that had occurred at any of our sites. • Shared information with other project engineers on similar systems, as these two presses were the first of four B3 systems being relocated in North America.

• Responsible for scheduling of 8 transfer, 1 footprint, 2 conventional and 4 small press systems to meet on-time shipping requirements of 99.8% while maintaining department inventory goal to minimize cost.• Responsible for manpower utilization across 3 shifts to eliminate daily and weekend overtime and for assisting teams in identifying and elimination of process bottlenecks.• Coached supervisors, team leaders and team members in the use of GM-GMS, standardized work development and use, product quality standards, process control and verification.• Women in Manufacturing – Chairman/President Elect of Grand Rapids Metal Center Chapter

• Managed multiple teams consisting of approximately 20 production technicians and 5 die makers to ensure 3 major transfer press systems met or exceeded the business goals set forth. This included scheduling and performance of the systems and teams.• Developed teams by clarifying roles, responsibilities and establishing expectations for team leaders and team members. This included providing guidance for individuals acting as SPQRC team representatives.• Coached and guided team members through the problem-solving process to determine root causes that would eliminate safety, quality and performance issues before and as they developed.

• Selected and managed team members with the development and implementation of the Draw Panel Review (DPR), Die Face Review (DFR), Pre-Surface Coating, Post-Surface Coating and Reference Draw-In Panel (RDIP) processes that the plant then utilized to determine optimum coating frequencies for draw die performance.• Responsible for working with the plant Maximo CAC to develop a process and report in the maintenance management software for tracking RDIP, DPR, DFR, Surface Coating and RDIP status that became mainstream.• Responsible for enhancing our standard press specific Process Data Check Sheets (PDCS) along with their requirements throughout the plant by working with DMAL’s (press operators) assigned to each of the press systems.• Developed process control documentation and training packages for the press room.

• Successfully managed a central work area and multiple satellite work areas comprised of approximately 30 die makers. This included coaching hourly leaders on Maximo for tracking tooling maintenance and hourly team members on implementation of workplace organization standards.• Responsible for scheduling and prioritizing major die repairs, engineering work orders (EWO’s), tooling work orders (TWO’s), and preventive tooling maintenance for approximately 10 major press systems. This included developing a template for technical support supervisor shift to shift line-ups and working with our Maximo CAC to develop a report that flagged tooling at 80% and above established preventive maintenance frequencies.

Successfully completed several courses and on the job training related to dies and the stamping industry focusing on both leadership and manufacturing processes.

Designed various mechanical systems for numerous facilities while under minimal guidance of an executive board member/licensed engineer. Met with clients and performed several site evaluations to assure that customers’ expectations and needs were met.• Performed HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) load calculations, equipment sizing and selection along with designing layouts for the equipment within the facility.• Sized hydronic water and steam piping along with equipment to support facility load calculations.• Sized and designed routing for plumbing including water, vent and sanitary piping systems.• Coordinated mechanical system layouts and requirements with other disciplines (i.e.: architectural, electrical and civil).• Developed mark-ups for cad operators and draftsmen for completion of documents to meet deadlines.• Performed construction administration by reviewing and approving shop drawings, ensured that designs complied with all codes and laws.• Responsible for training and empowering new engineers and cad operators in my areas of functional expertise with design issues.

Developed and maintained both mechanical and electrical engineering cad standards for the company.• Co-team lead in development of an AutoCAD “Production Standards” book that included several sections (i.e.: file naming and set-up, templates, layering, common symbols, departmental symbols, printing/plotting standards, and miscellaneous information).• Created “Standard Detail” books for both departments with the help of other department members.• Worked with electrical department members to develop standard layering, symbols and details.• Developed an AutoCAD test for potential new hires to complete during the interview process then evaluated and made recommendations to upper management based on applicant’s results.• Participated in the interview process for prospective new hires and monitored existing cad operators to support upper management in employment decisions.• Responsible for training existing employees with various computer skills to utilize AutoCAD.

Assisted project managers with client meetings and performed several site evaluations to assure that customers’ expectations and needs were met.• Performed load calculations for heating and cooling.• Sized mechanical equipment for buildings based on size and load requirements for the facility.• Developed layouts for all types of mechanical equipment within the facility.• Responsible for training and empowering employees and cad operators in my areas of functional expertise with design and cad issues.

Prepared drawings, diagrams, sketches, schedules, and detail work as required sustaining project schedules under a project manager. My responsibilities included generating drawings manually and by utilizing AutoCAD. I assisted in the coordination of documents during all phases of design from schematic through construction documents.
