Mental Health Clinician
Provide individual and family therapy to children, teens and adults experiencing various mental health or behavioral health issues. Utilize motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT, play therapy, trauma informed care that is client centered. Complete all comprehensive diagnostic assessments, treatment plans, risk assessments, CANS assessments and other various tools to help treatment and interventions needed. Group Facilitator
This internship was part of my MSW program where I was placed in an addiction center and obtained 600 hours both direct and indirectly working with clients. I was in charge of doing biopsychosocials for newly admitted clients and then creating their integrative summary to provide to their primary therapist. I also ran about 5-10 60 minute groups a week to adults who were either in their PHP program during the day or their outpatient program in the evening. The groups were focused on topics like communication skills, mindfulness, guilt and shame, relapse prevention, SMART recovery, healthy relationships, goal setting and many more. I focused on helping the clients process emerging emotions while encouraging the clients to reframe negative thought patters, utilizing motivational interviewing skills, CBT, DBT and strengths focused approaches.
Forensic Specialist- Screener
I worked with felony mental health court to help divert incompetent clients from jail or state hospitals into a community treatment center and follow a conditional release order. I taught competency restoration classes to clients who are incompetent to proceed in felony mental health court and corresponded with court to deliver updates on client status. I linked and coordinated housing and services needed to help clients gain stability and remain compliant with all conditions of their conditional release plan. I worked closely with public defender and state attorneys office in order to ensure all clients receive proper care, assessments and recommendations. I conducted assessments and interviews with clients placed in state hospitals or jails to help transition to the appropriate level of care needed.
Mobile Crisis Response Specialist
I responded to mental health crisis calls in Palm Beach county and provided appropriate intervention to ensure the safety of the individual and community. I also relayed all needed information to first respondents / law enforcement agents if needed. I conducted various assessments on the individual in crisis to determine best intervention to ensure the safety of the individual and others. I interned in the crisis units of South County as part of my MSW program. Every morning I would sit with the psychiatrist as we pulled in each client to check on their status, how they're feeling mentally and physically, how the medication is working if there were any changes and then discuss which clients were ready for discharge and potential after care plans for clients. I contacted client family members or friends with the client's permission to inquire about potential housing options due to a client not being allowed to discharge without housing and services set up. I also wrote all client summaries upon their discharge to be placed in their charts and set up all appointments needed for follow up after discharge.

I worked with felony mental health court in Palm Beach County to oversee all clients placed in the community or state hospital on a conditional release either due to incompetency or being found not guilty by reason of insanity. I requested monthly updates from all treatment centers, assisted living communities, hospitals or other various settings to provide the court to ensure compliance and improvement. I submitted violation letters if the clients were to have violated any of the conditions on their conditional release plan and worked closely with all client case managers to remedy any issues that could be preventing the client from excelling like lack of medication oversight or drug use.
