About Jamie Holmes

At the start of 2017 I sat down to work out what my ideal next role would be. I wanted to work for a small company that had a vision for huge expansion. I wanted to work with people who shared my values of positivity, responsibility and authenticity and to feel like I was making a real difference. Since starting at VU.CITY I wake up every morning thinking how lucky I am to have been asked to lead this small, but beautifully formed team of experts with huge aspirations for growth and change - exciting times. And to be supported by my friends, both at work and home, and my family to pursue my attempts at making a small difference in the world outside of work is the icing on the cake. It is amazing how much can be achieved with pig headed determination and a wish to give something back.

  • Xoomworks Ltd
    Managing Director - Technology
    Xoomworks Ltd Aug 2016 - Jun 2017
This was the last role I did at Xoomworks. Looking back on my time it is amazing to have seen such growth. I joined as employee number 6, working out of a tiny office near Great Portland Street, London. I leave it as a thriving business with over 220 employees in four locations around Europe. A strong community of amazing employees with a common overarching culture, but now also with their own unique ways of working in each office and business area. A very special place. In August 2016 I was asked to run the new Technology business (which was made up of the BI practice from Consulting, a Digital business that had started up and the old Technology Outsourcing business). Very quickly it became apparent that this collection of businesses needed some ground up restructuring. Not the most pleasant of times, but an amazing insight into the robustness of the Xoomworks culture and into the intelligence and understanding of some of the people affected by this. With everyone's support we managed to turn the business around in 3 months and back onto a healthy footing. It was at the end of this process that I decided it was time to move on from Xoomworks having spend an incredible 16.5 years.
  • Xoomworks Ltd
    Managing Director - Consulting
    Xoomworks Ltd May 2014 - Aug 2016
In May 2014 the business was split into two; Consulting and Technology Outsourcing. My role was to develop the Consulting business. Responsible for developing and maintaining the vision for Consulting (spanning our two practice areas, Procurement and BI), budgeting and managing the P&L, building even stronger teams, driving sales and marketing activities and working with our key partners to win more work and delight our clients. In just under 2.5 years we managed to increase the turnover from £3M to nearly £8M across the 2 practice areas, created far clearer sales messaging, a healthy pipeline of work, amazing delivery teams following more robust implementation approaches, super happy clients and a new development process to supercharge and retain our incredible employees.
  • Xoomworks Ltd
    Operations Director
    Xoomworks Ltd Jul 2011 - May 2014
The business grew to a point whereby we needed more rigor and leadership of the delivery team. As a member of the newly formed Management Team my responsibilities as Operations Director were to implement robust internal processes and systems; hire and develop fantastic people and to delight our clients in all we did. From a systems and process perspective, we migrated to Google Apps, implemented a new CRM solution (SugarCRM), a new time and expense management tool (Replicon), a new internal comms application (Yammer), a business process management tool (KIssflow) and knitted it all together with a cloud based integration tool (Zapier). From a cultural perspective we really focused on what a great place Xoomworks was to work and allowing our team to be themselves and do what was right for clients. We won the Great Places to Work award in 2012 - which was wonderful feedback on us doing the right things.
