In this Director level role I am responsible for the provision of medical support to an organisation of approx 19 000 soldiers. This complex portfolio encompasses everything from the interactions with our own Primary Healthcare organisations to the assurance of deployed medical care. It is a balance of applying limited resource and prioritisation, identifying and managing critical risk and throughout keeping the management informed and empowered at all levels. Although the role is strategic in outlook with the provision of medical advice and direction it is also very personal and requires detailed and considered interaction to the individual level to ensure that the whole team understand the intent and their valuable part in it.

I am fully committed to making the MOD and the Army an outstanding place to work and I passionately believe that sport is an essential part of this what we offer. As Vice Chairman of Army Cycling I have been a the forefront of ensuring that we promote the sport of cycling to as many soldiers as possible. With an annual budget of cira £250k we deliver 7 racing teams and 5 race series competitions that are open to all soldiers as well as training and education. The 'club' has around 1200 members and an active committee that delivers high quality sporting activity across the UK and wherever the Army is stationed.

In this role I was responsible for a diverse civilian and military team that secured and managed the placement contracts for over 250 military clinicians into NHS trusts across the country and oversaw a budget of IRO £15 million. With the most military clinicians working the majority of their time in the NHS while maintaining the requirement for military training and the ability to deploy at short notice the negotiations and maintenance of these contracts was complex and required detailed interactions and negotiations with each NHS trust.

In this Senior Executive role I was responsible for the management of the Operational Patient Care Pathway Programme and 7 subordinate projects. In preparation for this role I completed my Managing Successful Programmes course and utilised it fully throughout. With considerable experience of Prince2 projects I was also able to use this to ensure that all of the subordinate projects were correctly governed and through that work bring 4 of them to successful completion.
