My research emphasis areas include critical studies (social foundations of education) with a particular interest in the sociopolitical history of education (particularly impacts of ideology on education), social psychology and social epistemology of teachers, and state-level education policy making. In addition, I hold graduate certificates in Interdisciplinary Qualitative Methodologies and Educational Law and Policy. I am passionate about critical issues in education; how politics, industry, and economics have driven educational policy; the history of education; and educational philosophy. Prior to my university work, I taught in K-12 for ten years as both a broad field science and business education teacher. I have experience in three different branches of the armed services and retired after 24 years of service in the National Guard/U.S. Reserves.
