I was a marketing intern, which means that I got to follow Jessica around at functions so that she did not look bad. In all reality, I was mainly in charge of building up the Dairyland Weddings project. By maintaining the website, managing the social media, and finding local wedding vendors to be sponsored on the website, I was building a website that can really help local brides keep their weddings locally Wisconsin. I also emailed previous clients of Jessica and helped them update their websites and/or social media.

Eau Claire, Wisconsin Area

For two years, I was a sales associate at the funnest store in the Oakwood Mall in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I became an expert on different board games, darts, chess, puzzles, brainteasers, collectable card games and more. When a customer came into the store with a person in mind, but not exactly knowing what they wanted, I was there to guide them through. I answered questions and gave personal experience to help the customer make an educated decision. Also while working there, I was asked to create in-store signage for small sales. I also was in charge of keeping our front white board up-to-date and organized. This board showed our top games and it was constantly changing. It allowed me to use my creative skills to draw out advertisements that drew people into the store. I was also tasked in creating our advertisement that was placed in the UW-Eau Claire BluGold handbook. This advertisement needed to meet certain requirements and needed to say so much. In the end, my manager and his bosses were very pleased with the end result.On the mundane side of things, I was trained to receive new product, ship product, record inventory, handle transfers, close/open the cash register, close/open the POS system, do the nightly deposit, and ring up sales. Since there was usually only one person on the clock at a time, I became very knowledgeable on the computer system and how to run different reports. As the Social Media Manager, I was in charge of Bridgeport Gifts & Apparel's online presence. I would make frequent updates on Facebook and Twitter, to keep our customers up-to-date on the ongoing sales and events that we would be running. I would also brainstorm and design our online/email flash sales. These sales were only available one day and only those people who read their email or followed our social media would know about them. We found these to be very effective when we were building our online presence. Also, since I was on the Promotions team as well, whenever the Promotions Manager could not make a meeting or needed someone to be her for a day, I would be the next in line to be in charge.
