I am a qualified therapist registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. I have worked with adults and young people within both educational and therapeutic settings for over fifteen years. I offer both one-to-one short and long-term counselling and psychotherapy from my practice in North Finchley, North London and online. I work mindfully of cultural diversity, beliefs and values.From the start of my career, I have worked in roles that have focused on enabling growth, change, and self-empowerment for individuals and communities. After completing my degree in applied theatre (educational, community and therapeutic contexts) I worked for a community education project supporting young people experiencing social and emotional challenges to reach their potential. Subsequently, I worked in higher education both as a lecturer and a disability practitioner where I developed a specialism in working with adults and young people with disabilities, long-term health conditions, neurodiversity, mental health and wellbeing challenges. These roles led me to develop invaluable skills and understanding of the power of authentic and enabling relationships and to complete my counselling and psychotherapy training at the Minster Centre.I have worked as a therapist and wellbeing trainer/support mentor within a GP surgery, a University, Barnet Mind, the homelessness charity Crisis, Diversity & Ability (D&A) championing (neuro)Diversity and (dis)Ability inclusion and the REES Foundation supporting life-long help and support to those with care experience. As a Care Experienced Conference team member, I was engaged in enabling a much-needed debate for meaningful change of the care system. In addition to my therapy practice, I am an Aashna Counselling and Psychotherapy creative team member providing support to the practice and developing training considering difference, diversity and intersectionality including Let's Get Uncomfortable: race, ethnicity, culture and power and Untold stories of adults who have grown up in care. I am one of many members of RECLAIM, a collective of Care Experienced and Allies focused on healing together, supporting each other, understanding our shared histories and imagining possible futures I am co-author/editor of Study Skills for Students with Dyslexia - Support for Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs) SAGE Publications based on my experience supporting students.
