Wholly owned by Meridian Energy (ASX: MEZ), Powershop is the world’s first online electricity retailer. As a part of the core startup team, I initially covered everything from the website build to customer pricing. I progressed onto the Senior Executive team holding the Head of Sales & Marketing role reporting to the CEO. Taking the business from 0-50,000 customers was a great milestone to reach in one of the most competitive and highly regulated industries in the world - electricity.Responsibilities● Build and manage a team of 9 FTEs, 4 retained agencies and 6 part-time sales agents, spanning direct sales, marketing and social media● P&L management of Sales & Marketing budget of $4.7m● Identification and implementation of direct and indirect sales channel strategy● Marketing communications, brand strategy and execution● Digital strategy, execution and tracking (SEM, digital display and channel management)● Social media and community engagement strategyAchievements● Fully Integrated Marketing Campaign – designed and managed outdoor, digital display and social media campaign (including the electrical plug giving “the finger”!) responsible for taking Powershop from 0-50,000 customers ● Sales Training Program – setup 13 broker channels from inception (e.g. iSelect) with full sales methodology, training and documentation, including international training of Manila and NZ call centres● Office Fit-Out – project managed the design fit out from scratch for Collins Street office
