Fund I was $17.5M and invested in 29 startups, and we're now investing out of a $27M Fund II.GCVF has had to write its own playbook for communities and capital. I have led many of these efforts within the firm: - Got vans and campers to spend 100s of nights in small towns all over the state. - Created a statewide pitch event which has catalyzed millions in investment into rural CO companies. - - Helped author the rural chapter of Startup Communities by Brad Feld. - Founded a conference for capital innovators in 2018, since adopted by the Kauffman Fdtn. - Introduced non-traditional term sheets to ensure we could partner with the best rural CO founders- Contributed to Adventure Finance, by Aunnie Patton Powers, and the Innovative Finance PlaybookThis work uncovered countless opportunities for capital innovation. To address these, for Fund II, I am focused solely on investing and fund strategy, making time to explore these. They're experts in their own communities/industries/realities and see an opportunity to invest in change. I try to accelerate their efforts however I can. This has led to short term consulting roles, long term Venture Partner roles, and everything in between.
