During the summer university break, in order to keep myself busy whilst enhancing my CV, I undertook the role of a water meter surveyor for a major civil engineering company based in Uddingston, working on behalf of Scottish Water. The role involved travelling independently throughout Scotland in a company provided vehicle. Overnight stays were common in areas such as Aberdeen and Inverness. My primary duties were to locate water meters in commercial properties, document the locations through a series of photographs and triangulation methods and also accurately record the meter readings which were located in areas ranging from city centre main streets to rural farm buildings.

This role was at a branded packaging factory which primarily manufactures branded decorative whiskey tubes for bottles to presented in; it also produced boxes and other alcohol packaging for companies around the globe. My duties included packing, palletizing and securing finished products for transport. This role required a great deal of communication within a three person team due to the tight time limits of production time as the tubes were fed via a production line and meant each packing task had to completed within a short time limit in order to proceed.

During my time with Connaught, I worked as a trainee tiler. My duties were to prepare work surfaces as well as the tradesmen's tools. I was also responsible for tiling and doing the majority of the grouting, while adhering to all site health and safety rules.

My role involved working as part of a team, picking and ensuring orders were accurate, serving customers, dealing with large amounts of cash, general warehouse duties and operating the counter-balance forklift
