Legal Assistant - My role was to work directly with a lawyer within the Public Liability (VIC) team, in a thriving practice dealing with litigation in the County and Supreme courts of Victoria.My position involved a wide array of responsibilities to ensure timely movement on a sizeable file load.- Drafting legal correspondence, memoranda and court documents.- Liaising with clients, counsel, the courts and acting solicitors- Drafting memoranda to counsel- Legal research and contributing to internal memoranda for instructing solicitors- eFilling (CITEC and RedCrest) in the County and Supreme courts. - Corresponding with the courts and other relevant bodies (eg: the Medical Panel, medico-legal bodies, registrars, etc.)- Producing chronologies and other internal file notes- General admin (invoicing, diary management, etc.)

My role to Mr. Andreou required me to perform various tasks critical to the VCAT and litigation stages of a matter.This role provided experience on complex legal matters within the construction law and commercial law spheres primarily.- Receiving briefs from solicitors and preparing factual and issue-based chronologies for Counsel’s consideration. - Drafting of court documents for instructing solicitors- Drafting Counsel’s opening and closing statements.- Legal research- General assistance in litigation preparation (producing tables of proof, costing, etc.)Mr. Andreou also accepted briefs on corporate and commercial matters, equity and constructive trusts, intellectual property and contracts.

Prior to his appointment in the Magistrates Court of Victoria, Mr. Greenway specialised in commercial matters. I would draft court documents such as affidavits and witness statements for Mr. Greenway in matters across contractual disputes, quasi-criminal law and administrative law.

Hoyts Victoria Gardens is a fast-paced workplace as one of Melbourne’s busiest cinemas. After two months of employment, I was offered a position as Team Leader (Host). This position propelled me into a leadership role where I was charged with the coordination of a large staff base comprising of fifty members across candy bar, box office and floor maintenance. At a young age this role provided me experience in dealing with workers of all ages, varying from 16-25, this provided the basis of my strong interpersonal skills shown today. I gained invaluable experience in my leadership, organisation and communication skills which have carried with me to present. I was often the first point of contact between management and the FOH crew, receiving multiple staff awards for my efforts at the company.Further, I provided training to over 40 employees over the span of five years and directly contributed to the business’ thriving KPI results and service standards.My time in this position served as the impetus to my strong work ethic today, and generated life-long connections in an otherwise chaotic industry.
