Working within the Draughting and Engineering department I was responsible for the design of Impressed Current and Sacrificial Cathodic Protection which included:- Bespoke mechanical designs from concept to manufacture using Solidworks- Creation of engineering drawings such as GA's, fabrication DWG's, electrical wiring diagrams etc.- Supplier correspondence and procurement including conducting Factory and Site acceptance tests- Site work including the assembly and commissioning of products- Generation of technical datasheets

Within the Network Engineering Power division I was responsible for Overhead Line design which included:- Bespoke mechanical designs from concept to manufacture- Structural tower analysis- Design checks and calculations - Creation of engineering drawingsI have additionally gained valuable experience in the use of British Standards and Eurocodes. During my time working for Babcock I was fortunate to have undergone Professional Development training where I was able to enhance my presentation and communication skills.

During my time at Hydroplan UK I learnt much about the engineering industry in particular the way in which schemes are taking from generation to completion. After gaining comprehensive knowledge of the design process involved in the hydro power industry I was given the responsibility to design my own schemes. I was given sole responsibility in designing two 500kW schemes in which I had to complete the detailed design of the following:- Intakes- Powerhouses - Pipelines- Components- Other civil structures.
