Spark is a data-driven national education non-profit working to keep underserved middle school students on track and prepared for high school and beyond through hands-on, one-to-one mentoring with adults in the workplace. I led Spark LA’s expansion efforts to grow program enrollment by 50% and improved program implementation metrics by over 40%. I stabilized the region through two leadership transitions while recruiting and building a high performing team to ensure quality apprenticeship experiences for over 500+students (sourced from 7 school partnerships) and over 600 volunteers from corporate and community partnerships across Los Angeles.

Madison, Wisconsin Area

AVID/TOPS, a program coordinated jointly by the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) and the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County, aims to prepare students in the “academic middle” for four-year college eligibility and success.I led the program and operations team to support approximately 600 students to significantly increase the number of under-represented high school students who go onto college and earn post-secondary degrees.

Houston & Austin, Texas

Citizen Schools partners with high-need middle schools to provide "apprenticeships" (hands-on projects taught by volunteers from business and civic organizations) and academic support. As a result, students develop the skills, knowledge and beliefs they need to succeed in middle school, advance towards college, and become leaders in their careers and communities.I was responsible for the overall program quality for 7 school programs between Austin and Houston. I hired, supervised, coached and trained a 7-person director team and 50 Teaching Fellows and Team Leaders– 30+ volunteers to ensure high quality instruction and programming to impact student achievement.

I supervised and coached a 7 staff program team, in addition to more than 20 volunteers, to ensure high quality instruction and programming to impact youth development and academic achievement through providing regular observations, feedback and professional development opportunities including training design and implementation for over a 100 students.

The Campus Outreach Opportunity League (C.O.O.L.) was a national, non-profit organization founded to promote and support college student involvement in community service and social action. For twenty years COOL played a critical role in building the community service movement among college campuses throughout the United States. COOL worked with hundreds of colleges and universities to build, develop, and/or strengthen community service programs and service-learning efforts.At COOL I developed and implemented service learning organizing train-the-trainer program for national network of 1000 college students. I coordinated the 20th annual conference at University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, the 19th annual conference featuring Coretta Scott King at Morehouse College and the “Learning Lessons from Past Social Movements” summit at Dartmouth College.

I played various local and national roles at City Year. During my time at City Year I planned and organized high-impact service days for over 5,000 participants at two annual conferences and one annual fundraiser in communities all across the country. I also developed and implemented training academies and weekly Leadership Development Days for 100+staff and volunteers.

National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC), or AmeriCorps NCCC is an AmeriCorps program that engages 18 to 24 year-olds in team-based national and community service across the United States. National Civilian Community Corps teams complete about four different six- to eight-week-long projects focused on environmental and educational issues as well as public safety, disaster relief and homeland security.
