In the words of Haim Ginott, ‘Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression.’ As an aspiring early childhood educator, I believe that children are the way they are because of their experiences and that early childhood educators play a big role in shaping a child’s life.Hello! I am Jamie, a final year student studying Early Childhood Development and Education at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Personally, I believe that every child is unique and with a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and explore in, they will reach their fullest potential. Throughout my 3 years in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, I have completed 2 practicums and a 6-month internship at different childcare and kindergarten centers. I have also gone through modules on Child Development, Curriculum planning and Child safety. These experiences gave me the opportunity to put the theory I have learnt from modules such as Language and Literacy, Curriculum Planning and Early Numeracy into practice. During my 6-month internship, I was able to experience what being a full-time educator was like and I have gained an abundance of knowledge in every aspect of being an early childhood educator, from curriculum planning to communicating with parents and all the background work educators have to complete. I am an outgoing, disciplined and adaptable individual who never backs down in the face of challenges. When I am not in school, I am dancing. I started dancing at the age of 5 and has never stopped. I have competed in multiple international dance competitions and completed dance examinations from different syllabuses. Through dance, I have learnt to be resilient, disciplined, and creative and I believe that dancing has made me the person I am today. As an aspiring early childhood educator, I am eager to give children the opportunity to learn, grow and explore in a safe and nurturing environment, allowing them to reach their fullest potential. My ultimate goal is to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children, laying a strong foundation for their future success, and instilling in them a lifelong love for learning. I am eager to start my journey with like-minded educators. Feel free to connect with me!
