I am a master’s-level social work professional with a background in filmmaking. Even before entering social work, I was always social justice-minded and incorporated that into my filmmaking. While working in New York City’s film industry, I was intentional in fostering a supportive environment for young technicians to learn as well as lending my creative skills to projects that uplift the voices of BIPOC and LGBTQ people.Through working in youth-serving organizations and attending graduate school, I’ve expanded my toolbox of skills to include advocacy, program development, direct practice, and research. I didn’t leave my creative arts background behind as I found many opportunities to incorporate visuals and design into my assignments and practicum. After graduation, I found opportunities to utilize my breadth of skills to make movements for change more colorful and aesthetically-pleasing. I was a proud part of the Make Us Visible Florida team that helped to pass the state's AAPI history inclusion bill in May 2023. I currently work for Make Us Visible National to support efforts to teach AAPI history in several other states. In my free time, my push for social change doesn’t take a break! I am a Disney World annual passholder and contribute to @livingwiththelandstan, an Instagram dedicated to the Living with the Land ride at EPCOT as well as sharing Disney-inspired information on nature, sustainability, and ecology. I hope to educate fellow guests about Disney’s sustainability efforts and ways they can enjoy the parks in an eco-friendly way.
