Joining Wallace at the start of 2021 I contributed to the company's mission of addressing the affordable housing problem and supporting rapid urbanization through innovative technologies.Assembled and guided a highly skilled team of engineers specialized in mechanical, electrical, CAD, machine learning, and IoT, to spearhead the development of a cutting-edge smart home system, seamlessly integrated with factory-built modular buildings.

I served as the Engineering Group Manager for Electrical & Electronics, Wiring & High Voltage Power Management for VinFast, a Vietnamese automotive company with global aspirations. I was responsible for setting strategic direction and driving innovation within the organization, particularly in the areas of high voltage design and safety.- Leveraged my extensive experience across diverse companies and industries to challenge traditional approaches- Reported directly to the Director of Engineering, collaborating on key tasks such as CAPEX, OPEX and human resources management, contributing to the overall success of the department and company.- Collaborated with engineering resources and suppliers from Vietnam, Korea and China, effectively navigating language barriers and ensuring adherence to engineering best practices that often differed in various countries.

Leading advanced vehicle design projects aimed at assessing program feasibility and integration into GM’s forthcoming lineup of battery electric vehicles. A super interesting role, developing conceptual designs for advanced electrical features, with a strong focus on cutting-edge high voltage systems.

In 2015, I ventured outside the realm of engineering to pursue my entrepreneurial passion, founding my own company with a $150k investment that eventually reached a company valuation of $2M. Establishing a world-class indoor track spanning 4200m2 and featuring cutting-edge electric karts, the business garnered an impressive customer base of over 40,000 unique visitors within its initial two years of operation.As CEO, I assumed full responsibility for the company’s success or failure, particularly during the challenging startup phase. This entailed overseeing all aspects of operations, marketing, financing, company culture development, safety regulation compliance, sales and HR management. Guided by a strong vision, my overarching objective was to challenge the conventional norm; “It has always been done that way” – The seven most expensive words in business!

Responsibilities:Manage issue resolution for the Electrical Engineering Team by ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner and containments are in place to minimise customer impacts. Employed strong technical, communication and negotiation skills to effectively manage and motivate a large team of engineers, driving them to achieve high-quality outcomes. Maintained a delicate balance among the interests of various stakeholders, catering to their needs and ensuring their satisfaction.Achievements:* Major contributor to the successful launch of the 2014 VF Commodore, and Chevrolet SS introduction to the USA.

In a cross-functional capacity, played a key role in the design and integration of battery cables, body, engine, and front compartment wiring harnesses into a new electrical architecture. Collaborated closely with suppliers, purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless coordination and successful implementation of the designs. Additionally, provided supervision and guidance to a team of five supplier resident engineers.Achievements:Executed a new global electrical architecture and introduced the first time use of aluminium battery cables for GM.

Responsibilities: * Customer focused target setting, benchmarking, performance balancing, vehicle development and validation of Noise & Vibration performance for Australian and international markets across the full bandwidth of vehicle performance including high profile programs such as Camaro, VE and VF Commodore.* GM Holden representative for System Actuated Sound N&V components (eg. fuel pumps, HVAC, power steering etc)* Analyse quality data for improvement opportunities for the vehicle integration team and develop sufficiency plans to achieve results.Selected Achievements:* Delivered a plan to improve customer satisfaction with V8 drive quality which has reduced the customer quality index score from above 10pph to almost zero.* Root cause of many N&V issues late in the development program and drove solutions through to implementation to minimise customer dissatisfaction.

* Prepared noise and vibration requirement documents for projects ranging from building construction, studio design and mechanical services.* Conducted measurements to confirm council and design requirements have been achieved.* Developed technical engineering skills along with report writing and client communication.

Responsibilities: * The works race team manufactures new race vehicles for customers, prepares race cars and engineers them at events.* Lead scrutineers liaison – ensure all vehicles comply with category and safety regulations.Selected Achievements:* Development of an aerodynamics package to improve stability at high speeds.* Implementation of a database system to improve the tracking of spare parts and engines.

Durability & Vehicle PerformanceResponsibilities: * Complete engineering work requests and assist in ADR certification testing.* Document durability and vehicle performance test resultsSelected Achievements:* Given project management roles in engineering contracts such as GM China’s hot weather exposure testing, and BP Australia’s “BP Ultimate” fuel launch.* Developed durability validation tracking system to highlight issues and reduce downtime and assist with future scheduling. This system is still being used.

During my part-time involvement in the Australian Army Reserves as an Officer, I underwent extensive training that honed my initiative, leadership, integrity, and communication skills. These skills were consistently put into practice during training operations, where I held the position of Commanding Officer for Sections comprising 13 individuals and Platoons comprising 30 individuals.Achievements:Through the Royal Military Collage I was educated in the basic skills of military service, along with navigation, weapon handling and field craft. Other subjects covered were leadership, communication skills, strategic studies and military history. I found the demands of this appointment, both physically and academically, to have aided me professionally in terms of its unique leadership, problem solving and management training. My military career, even in a reserve capacity, has provided a unique depth of expertise and skills which is not readily offered by civilian engineering practices.
