I was awarded $422,241 from the Australian Research Council to undertake a project exploring the impact of mass gatherings on emergency health services across Queensland. The DECRA scheme provides focused research support for early career researchers.

I was responsible for:• Supporting the COVID-19 response on the specific area of expertise related to social distancing /mass gathering activities in the Western Pacific Region, including producing relevant guidance documents.• Supporting the provision of evidence-based decision-making on non-pharmaceutical measures.• Reviewing and contributing to internal and external documents.

I was responsible for:• Ensuring quality in the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programs • Day-to-day management of eighteen academic and nine clinical staff• Negotiation of staff workload to meet the operational requirements of the nursing programs within the boundaries of the university enterprise agreement and faculty workload guidelines • Representing the Discipline of Nursing at national meetings, such as the Council of Deans of Nursing and Midwifery meetings, and at local meetings and network events, such as the ACT Nursing and Midwifery Network• Monitor student enrollment numbers to ensure student intake meets the student load planning expectations of the University• Working with the Bachelor of Nursing Course Convenor to ensure existing and future accreditation requirements are met• Goal setting and performance management of staffSome key outputs and achievements include:• Oversee the transition from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia competency standards to the 2016 Registered Nurse Standards for Practice across the curriculum• Oversee the development of documents that articulate the process within the discipline to align with broader Faculty and University policy • Re-established regular education focused and research focused professional development and information sharing sessions • Chair the undergraduate and postgraduate course advisory group meetings with external stakeholders• Developed a centralised electronic repository for the management of staff workloads• Improving governance frameworks by expanding the role of year level convenors to include responsibility for student progress and unit review

• Clinical leadership and governance within the undergraduate nursing curriculum through the implementation and evaluation of strategies to monitor and record the clinical progress of 1500 students,• Maintaining and building external relationships with key industry partners to secure clinical placements, • Direct management of full-time Clinical Liaison Nurse staff and a number of casual staff,• Liaison with unit convenors of clinical practice units, Bachelor of Nursing convenor and other key stakeholders in the Bachelor of Nursing curriculum, and• Responding to crisis events concerning patient and student safety within the clinical environment.
