Okavango Delta, Botswana

Managed Abu Camp– a low volume (6 tented suites), high touch resort in the remote Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage site. 7 line managers and 56 staff members deliver tailor-made experiences and provide first-hand access to elephant conservation, research, and interactions to Abu guests. Of note, Abu Camp (then owned by Vulcan Inc. and operated by Wilderness Safaris) was the highest priced double occupancy key in sub-Saharan Africa (now $3900pppn) and continues to be widely regarded as among the most luxurious properties in Africa.• Responsible for the general management of the Food & Beverage, Kitchen, Housekeeping, and Guest Relations departments, especially managing the related budgets, human resources duties, and development of managers and staff• Served as the Relief F&B Manager during the F&B Manager’s leave periods• Defined, documented, and enforced the minimum standards of Abu Camp's service offering, appearance and style, branding, and training• Drove an increase in experiential hospitality by building a cross-functional Guest Experience team and outlining processes in order to further personalize the Abu guest experience• Achieved guest feedback scores steadily increasing year on year: FY15 surpassed all FY14 guest feedback scores with an average increase of 4.3% per category and scores again increased by about 3% on average from FY15 to FY16• Received the Andrew Harper’s Readers’ Choice Award for Top 20 Safari Lodges in 2015 • Served as the lodge's youngest GM as well as the first person of color in the role• Tasked as a Wilderness Safaris Service Coordinator for the Wilderness Safaris portfolio and formally audited 16 properties across four service levels in Zambia, Botswana, and Namibia
