About Jamie Choi
Hello! I'm Jamie Choi, a product designer with a passion for storytelling and curiosity for technology that enrich our experiences. Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s in Interaction Design at Carnegie Mellon University (2023). Over the summer, I got to work with great folks at SoFi as a product design intern. I learned a lot about designing products that negotiate between business goals, the company’s vision, and member experiences. Previously, I worked as an architectural designer in New York City for three years after graduating from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Architecture.My interest lies at the intersection of design and technology, designing experiences that tell the story of a product, services, and ideas. So far, I’ve worked on websites, financial apps, AR experiences, and voice user interfaces – interactive experiences focused on storytelling and problem-solving.

- Redesigned a key UI component with mobile/web scalability, widely used across five SoFi products – Invest, Relay, Loan, Banking, and Credit Card, expected to ship in May 2023. - Audited 12 existing use cases and interviewed 11 designers to identify pain points of the current UI component and its implementation. Integrated user inputs by conducting a think-aloud usability/AB testing session with 17 participants. The final work presentation received positive feedback from the design team and leadership.- Ideated and conceptualized an optimized user experience for SoFi Invest onboarding session that streamlines the currently segmented process of submitting applications, linking bank accounts, depositing cash, and checking for rewards into one coherent flow. Estimated to increase the setup success rate and help orient users on the next course of action in a multi-step process. Defined its interaction flows, visual designs, and prototypes.
