I had a great opportunity out of high school to try my skill at carpentry, with an Uncle who was a deck builder/contractor. That led to a 10-year career as a full-time residential framer. Unfortunately, in 2010, I was bitten by a tick, and contracted Lyme Disease. During a 5 year battle with Lyme, with a lot of painful time on my hands, I found myself getting lost down the rabbit hole of researching health/wellness. It was during that time that I found my love for building science, and all the comforts and health benefits that can come from building a 'high-performance' home. As a result of that time and research, and many discussions with a good friend, we decided to start 'Performance Haus Inc'. It was important to us that builders/clients had access to better building products, and expertise to ensure that their occupants were going to be comfortable and healthy. I have been going at this now for 6 years. My body is continuing to heal, and I am thankful for all of the opportunities that have come our way.In the past few years, I have also started a company with a colleague of mine, focusing on creating step-by-step 3D Construction Details for high-performance assemblies. This company is 'Beyond Code'. I am excited to be a part of this start-up, as there is a tremendous need to show the sequencing/process required for completing specific details.
