For the past 20 years, I've been a youth mental health advocate, educator, and writer passionate about seeing young people and their families thrive despite the train wreck of a mental health system they must navigate. Every one of us is on the spectrum of having a mental health illness, better described as a brain illness, given the right trigger. Yet, historically we have shoved people with brain illness aside with cruel language, lack of value on treatment and identification, and so on. Our current system speaks to our choices. A Crazy Thought is a docuseries that will heal through stories of inspiration, recovery, and hope, giving parents/teachers/counselors/ and youth themselves ideas for their own journeys, as well as our collective journey. We are all affected. We are all in this together. There is no other here. I have assembled a core of award-winning female filmmakers to approach this project from a feminine consciousness, and the result will be transformational for people's lives.
