The Global Advisory Committee (GAC) of SAHR is a body created by the Executive Director to support the Board and the Executive Team with restorative leadership and technical advice to fulfill SAHR’s mission of building a movement of Human Rights Defenders and lawyers who use and shape the law to achieve justice for all survivors of sexual violence, regardless of their race, ethnicity, class, gender, age, ability or sexuality.

As an American, Jamie served as the Influence and Communications Officer for the UK Ministry of Defense’s British Defence [sic] Staff in the United States (BDS-US) for four years. Jamie has a professional profile that is unique and specifically tailored to help promote the reputation of bilateral efforts with important stakeholders. As the Influence and Communications Officer at BDS-US, she successfully widened the scope of how the UK military, policy and acquisition teams approach stakeholder analyses and how to best communicate core messages. Furthermore, she worked actively to build relationships for staff with those in think tanks, consultancy firms, and academia who have the potential to serve in relevant federal positions in the near future.Having served on the UK Defence [sic] Reputation Group, Jamie worked with UK Government partners in the Foreign Commonwealth Office, Embassy, and UK Ministry of Defence [sic] that monitors risks while seeking to exploit and maximize opportunities. Together, component departments and colleagues delivered campaign-specific engagement strategies to target key stakeholders. The Reputation Group also collectively wrote press releases and talking points for Ministerial and military leaders, delivered engagement events, and applied social media and digital tools to promote the image of UK Defence [sic] in the United States.

Jamie volunteered her services to the Chinese-American Military Support (CAMS). Established since 2003, at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the role of CAMS has evolved and expanded into a mutual and non-profit support group in the Chinese-American community. CAMS seeks to provide mutual support and career development to all members of the Armed Forces in the community while encouraging the participation of the general public in supporting and understanding the U.S. Armed Forces, particularly its members of Chinese descent.Provided advisory contributions to update and reorganize CAMS' organizational structure to increase efficiency in its programmatic efforts.Created communications products, like event booklets and posters for events such as the memorializing of Sino-American cooperation during the 1942 Doolittle Raid, a photo exhibition on the Chinese-American community and the Armed Forces, and an annual visit to a Navy battleship.Developed a communications strategy to widen the reach and advocacy platform of CAMS to more efficiently access Chinese-American communities while increasing the visibility of their role and promoting community-wide, cross-cultural cooperation in serving and supporting the American Armed Services together.

The Sahel and West Africa Club Secretariat for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and DevelopmentConducted the layout for numerous multilingual SWAC communications products using Adobe Creative, including: the Secretariat's 'Green fuels for development?' publication; the 'West Africa and Brazil: Addressing Renewable Energy Challenges' Forum in Cape Verde, 2011, booklet; as well as SWAC NewsBriefs (weekly office news publication). Completed the editing and re-formatting of hundreds of maps for the Club's online Information-Gateway.Translated specific texts from French to English and was charged with the responsibility of editing and insuring the quality of all English-language products. Created databases in Microsoft Excel to track all files for the Information-Gateway, as well as logging all relevant networks at every operational level (from national Non-Governmental Organisations to International and Multilateral Organisations).Successfully and independently proposed a thematic focus on women for the West African Gateway, gathering the research for a future web release.

Designed posters and logos for the Association and its major events.Worked in tandem with Sciences Po, the Association President, and the Communications section.Received commendations from Country Ambassadors and staff.

UN Women (Previously UNIFEM) Liaision Office to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for AfricaWorked cooperatively with UN and AUC partners to help organize advocacy programs. These included photo exhibitions, major inter-agency and inter-organization events and the re-design and conception of the Office's newsletter. Coordinated and executed an international forum that included regional and worldwide AUC, UN and civil society participation, for which Jamie had been given sole responsibility and authority. She coordinated everything from correspondence, flights, local transport, visas, hotels, meeting rooms at the UNECA, letters to Embassies and the AUC Chairpersons, to per diems, programs, follow-up letters, and the compilation of the meeting's data into a large report to be used as a continental reference point for accountability. Participated as a representative of UN Women at major inter-agency and inter-organizational meetings where I helped in teams to record the minutes and wrote corresponding reports for immediate agency and press releases. Participated in Departmental discussions and plans leading to the integration of UNIFEM into UN Women. A major portion of Jamie's work also included working as a part of the UN's 'Delivering as One for Africa' Plan of Action, meaning that she sat in and participated in inter-agency Cluster and sub-cluster meetings and initiatives to better coordinate activities to support the AUC and UN Women's programmatic focus areas all while serving as a part of unified UN teams. Jamie left her post professionally fulfilled, with commendations from the UNECA, as well as from UN Women and UNDP Headquarters.
