As the pilot plant was operated at height, health and safety was of paramount concern. The project was subsequently entered into the IChemE Water Awards 2007.External Affairs: During the summer of 2006 I acted as Drought Speaker Coordinator, I enabling over fifty Thames Water employees to engage interested external parties. The programme completed seventy talks to an estimated 6000 people. Following the end of the drought, I organised a drought seminar, bringing thirty-five organisations from across the Thames Water region together for consultation and discussion, with the BBC’s environmental correspondent acting as chairperson.
