During my elective in the final year of medical school, I secured one of the highly competitive pre-hospital based electives with the West Midlands CARE Team. During the six weeks, I spent time with the double crewed ambulance teams, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and the West Midlands CARE team. Witnessing the transition between pre-hospital and the emergency department, I gained further experience in the resuscitation department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

Working in a COVID-19 testing centre, testing symptomatic citizens via a drive-through service and as part of a mobile testing service. During this role, I worked with a small group of colleagues to implement the new UK wide testing system at this Regional Testing Centre in Wales; ensuring a smooth transition from the previous system and training other colleagues at the centre. Vaccinating citizens against COVID-19 at various centres across South Wales.Working in district general and community hospitals to provide nursing support and personal care.

Restart a Heart is a global initiative supported by RCUK to teach life-savingg CPR and AED use to the public. The aim is to improve public knowledge of basic life support and, in turn improve the survival rate of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.In this role I coordinated the North Wales branch of the scheme, and successfully taught 115 members of the public CPR and improved their confidence in AED use.
