Jamil is considered the mastermind, architect, initiator and achiever of the successful GIS solution at Orange Jordan. He played a key role in introducing and presenting the project to senior and executive management, and in securing priority and recourses for the project.The project was initiated in year 2000. Jamil served as the project manager and spearheaded this initiative ever since until he resigned in 2004. He selected the use of ESRI’s ArcGIS together with Telcordia’s Network Engineer software, and proceeded to plan and supervise the implementation of a very successful GIS that provided an enterprise solution for Orange Jordan’s network management requirements. • Projected, planned and defined all software, hardware, data, manpower, and financial requirements for the project. As an Outside Plant Planning & Design Engineer, Jamil was responsible for copper and fiber optic route engineering, pole line and underground route field documentation, construction permits, project tracking, as-built documentation and electronic records preparation in accordance with company policies, procedures and quality standards. He worked with network planning, central office, transmission and operations personnel to support growth, replacements and upgrades of telecommunications plant facilities.• Designed and implemented the Strategic OSP long term plan. The entire network was analyzed and prioritized based on capacity utilization and trending, facilities deterioration and aging, and long term growth opportunities.• Designed the access network from Central Office to end customer, both feeder and distribution cables.• Determine the routing of cable by performing physical walk-downs, including documenting distances and service points.• Ensured that work met all applicable engineering, financial, planning, and operational standards. • Prepared, managed and maintained project documentation, maps and CAD drawings. Created drawings and records of fiber and copper routes, splice locations and construction notes.• Prepared Bill of Quantity for network material and labor requirements.• Reviewed, analyzed and resolved field construction problems, discrepancies or interference and provided interpretation of plans, directives and specifications for contractors and inspectors.
