Jamila Riley (affectionately known as J. Riley throughout the city and beyond), is the owner and lead designer of J. Riley, a crochet brand that builds self-esteem and boosts confidence through bold and unique accessories, apparel, and home decor. Housed inside of Sherman Phoenix Marketplace on Milwaukee's North side, Jamila's studio is a place where her passion for uplifting people of color is exercised daily. A self-proclaimed "energy curator", Mrs. Riley's mantra of being "Uniquely You" is conveyed in everything that she does. From her artwork and daily fashions to her online branding and messaging, the importance of showing up as your authentic self is what Jamila displays. Educator turned entrepreneur, wife, mother, designer, stylist, thrifter, artist and all around creative, Mrs. Riley has many titles. However, she proudly wears the hat of "Black Woman" in each of those roles and strives to instill that same sense of self-worth into every person of color she encounters.
