The Center for Publicly Engaged Scholarship (CPES) at UCSB is devoted to amplifying the social impact for research across the campus, with a special emphasis on the closely related research and educational equity, carried out the GGSE, and research on the many problems that stem from social inequities, carried out principally in the division of social sciences. The center focuses both on roots and remedies, and will direct its work toward partnership with the range of audiences, from activist and civil society organizations, to government agencies, the media, and the private sector. The CPES brings together scholars, community members, and stakeholders to study, discuss, and come up with solutions for major public issues. It builds bridges between university-based research and practical action. The CPES supports communication and collaboration between researchers and the public. The ultimate goals of the Center for Publicity Engaged Scholariship are to support UCSB researchers in partaking in research that makes a difference in the world, to find practical applications for this research, and to help benefit local communities across the globe in promoting equity, social justice, peace, sustainability.Teams: Youth Mental Health & Resources/Language Justice

I was enrolled in an independent research focused on health equity in Santa Barbara County, in relation to the pandemic with the support of graduate students and colleagues in the School of Education to support COVID-19 efforts. In addition, coordinating an Immigrant Health Rapid Response Network focused on COVID-19, in collaboration with the Santa Barbara County Department of Public Health. Many of my tasks include development of compiling latinx youth mental health resources, creating spreadsheets and research about community-based organization efforts or efforts focused on the pandemic, research about strategies to address price gouging by local stores, and researching COVID-19 statistics in prisons.
