Manager, Real Estate Valuations / Asset Management
Toronto, Canada Area
At CPP Investments, I led a team of 4 to deliver asset management tools for the global real estate portfolio, comprised of joint venture equity in multiple asset classes, including office, retail, industrial, and multi-family in the Americas - Canada, U.S., and Brazil. Expertise on sectors include U.S. Office ($7B), U.S. Student Housing ($5B), Brazil all sectors ($2B), and coverage of European markets. Previous portfolios covered include Canada office, retail, industrial and housing. I was responsible for the centralized pool of financial models (Argus Enterprise) with portfolio level analytics, providing geographic sector returns, asset performance details, and risk-related sensitivity analyses. I led approximately 10 investment meetings per year - delivering 150 financial models, portfolio summaries, and asset valuation reports. This role directly supported the Managing Director in delivering the quarterly results and senior level reporting, interacting with the global investment teams on new investments, dispositions, existing assets, and developments projects. Memorable projects include: the one stop shop Development Tracker with key indicators, the insightful Like for Like Returns Analysis by Sector/Region, and the Global REIT Analysis comparing public returns to CPPIB’s private real estate holdings for direction/magnitude. With current assets under management valued in excess of $400 billion, and projected to exceed half a trillion by 2030, CPPIB is a professional investment management organization that globally invests the funds of the Canada Pension Plan to ensure long-term sustainability. CPPIB invests in all major asset classes, including public equity, private equity, real estate, infrastructure and fixed-income instruments, and currently has offices in Toronto, London, Hong Kong, New York, São Paulo, Luxembourg and Mumbai.
