Conducted in-depth interviews with Milwaukee residents as part of a five-campus oral history project; advocated for and supported the mission of the WFOHP to have interviewee perspectives shape the research project’s content and overall direction.Presented at five local and international forums on research findings and the importance of including marginalized voices in discussions about the role urban agriculture plays as both an aid and hindrance to neighborhood-based nonprofit work.Worked with professors and other project leaders to select and train a team of graduate and undergraduate students in research and interviewing techniques used in community driven, oral history-based field work.Provided recommendations to determine the role of community discussions in shaping the project’s traveling exhibit on Wisconsin’s agricultural past; this input resulted in a direct collaboration and partnership with several Milwaukee neighborhood organizations.

Analyzed and mapped the history of redlining in Milwaukee, WI for a study that highlighted thelong-term effects of racist redistricting practices on segregation patterns in the city.Conducted archival and online research of U.S. census data and maps dating back to the 1940sfor a study done on the Census Bureau’s role in the internment of Japanese-American citizensduring World War II.Collected and analyzed data from over 5,000 court records for research concerning the impactsof gender, race, and ethnicity on the judicial processing of offenders accused of domestic violence.
