Jamison’s most recent project, My Mechanics Place, is to put the power back into the hands of individuals, to get themselves back on the road by providing the place and means to repair and/or maintain their vehicles. Through a concept first experienced while serving in the United States Military at San Diego’s Naval Air Station, Jamison was asked to help a friend with his car. As he stepped into the Auto Hobby Shop compound he knew that some day he would bring this service to those innovative Grease Monkeys now lying in ditches to work on exhausts, using tree limbs to pull engines. “If only there were a Place” that’s what is constantly said by those needing a lift or special tool to perform simple jobs such as brakes, shocks/struts, or even changing the oil. A place warm and dry in the winter, cool in the summer, a place where the tools and expertise are available to supplement our own limitations and help to get us on the road again quickly, safely and inexpensively. Motor City is the car capitol of the world. Each year “Dream Cruisers” and car enthusiasts bring out their iron sleds to show us where the rubber meets the road and yet how many of these classics are nothing more than lawn ornaments without the proper love and attention only lost for the lack of the Place and money. The expense of car repair or restoration can be far beyond the reach of our pocket books especially in today’s economy. My Mechanics Place will offset a great deal of the financial burden by saving the high labor costs associated with professional mechanics and auto body technicians. Making it possible to see our gems and found treasures where they should be, out there for all to see!
