Jami was leading the pipeline engineering department and responsible to ensure engineering objectives meet client expectations. He was also tasked to improve department performance and to optimize typical project life cycle by managing the engineering activities associated with all aspects of the pipeline engineering services. Jami also provided engineering support to the Sales & Marketing, Purchasing departments and company operations.

While seconded to Enbridge Pipelines Ltd., Jami was managing a group of company engineers, consultants, technicians and support staff assigned to the Fort Hills Pipeline Project. In addition to the Enbridge staff, Jami also supervised the consulting firm that was completing the FEED, capital estimate and the detailed engineering of the two pipelines.The project scope consists of 510 km of NPS 36 and 510 km of NPS 20 oil dilbit and diluent pipelines. Project budget $4-5 billion CDN.

Jami was recruited to be one of the first four founding partners involved in this company. Jami managed the construction and engineering department and was responsible for assessing and managing the risks of each project. Jami personally prepared each project construction estimate and managed the construction cost tracking while the project was being executed. Jami also worked closely with the company accountant preparing financial records and reporting the performance of the company.Jami personally developed the companies QC/QA program to comply with ASME and CSA requirements. Jami supervised the preparation and completion of all QC/QA packages and signed off on all finalized turnover documents. Jami was the company’s senior technical supervisor.In addition to Jami providing technical oversight of the company he also negotiated contracts with service providers, material vendors and equipment rental companies.

Jami was employed as the lead technical engineer in the Pipeline Construction Unit, responsible for supporting ongoing projects, estimating project proposals and providing engineering site support. Jami also managed a number of construction projects ranging from 300 km of oil and gas pipelines, storage tank facilities, gas compressor stations, and a 300-site integrity dig program. In addition to managing construction projects, Jami was also able to step into the superintendent position on numerous pipeline and pump station construction projects.While a project manager Jami was responsible for project profitability, allocation of construction equipment, logistics and managing support services (equipment maintenance).

Recruited by Danis Construction, an international EPC company, Jami worked on site during construction of a plant facility expansion in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jami scheduled, monitored, and inspected all work from start to completion while on site. The project included numerous pump stations, storage tanks and yard piping. Jami was the on-site technical supervisor for the heavy civil construction phase of this project.

Jami was a member of the company team responsible for bidding and assembling large project pipeline construction estimates and execution plans. Jami’s direct involvement in the preparation of a specific project proposal resulted in the company being awarded a construction contract value at $125 million for roughly 900 km of oil pipelines (the largest awarded contract for Midwest at that time).

Jami worked with senior engineers developing engineering work packages for industrial and residential expansion projects. Jami also managed a number summer students on research projects and field placements. Jami published a technical paper (not related to the oil and gas industry) in an international industry magazine and was presented at an international environmental conference.
