Being one of the councilor of Sangguniang Kabataan (Youth Council) is one of the remarkable events in my life. My fellow youth chose me to be part of that council by voting during 2010 elections. In return, I tried my best to be a very good role model to them. During my term, there are lots of duties and responsibilities assigned to me. Part of my role is to plan different activities/programs that will help the youth to booster their mental, spiritual, social, environmental and physical wellness. Examples of those activities/programs are Peer-Tutoring, Feeding Program, Basketball and Volleyball League, Run for a Cause, Concert for a Cause, Battle of the Bands, Community Service, Singing & Dancing Contests, etc. One of my favorite is the Community Service, it is one of our successful activities because every family of our barangay has their own representatives which helps the Sangguniang Kabataan, together with the Sangguniang Barangay in cleaning not only their surroundings, but as well as the roads, canals and creek in our barangay. We are doing this every 1st and 2nd Sunday of the Month. This activity maintains the cleanliness in our barangay and it serves as our shield during typhoons because it prevents flood from devastating our beautiful barangay. The goodness that I can see while we are doing this activity is that everyone is participating actively and voluntarily in doing their tasks. And also, I can feel that they are doing it with all their heart because the smile on their face shows it. Maybe that’s what leaders like me must keep, to keep all their people happy whatever the task maybe, be it easy or difficult.
