About Jan Avery

I am a Family Lawyer and Mediator. I have worked for Corcoran French, Solicitors, for over 20 years and have specialised in Family Law for most of that time. I am senior Lawyer for Child appointed by the Family Court to represent children in disputes between their parents or when the Ministry of Social Development becomes involved with the Family.I am also appointed by the Court to represent people who are unable to make decisions regarding their own care and property under the Protection of Personal Property Rights Act.I have trained in mediation and conducted mediations for the Family Court in Christchurch. I am now an accredited FDR provider and available to conduct private mediations. I am also a Professional Resolution Institute mediator. accredited NMIA and on the Law Society Panel of Mediators.Prior to amalgamation with Australia I was on the LEADR Board in New Zealand. Mediation is an excellent way to resolve dispute between parties and equip them with the tools to make decisions in the future. It is much more positive than Court Proceedings..
