I am the wife of a career USAF officer who served his country from Vietnam to 2008. He flew 337 combat missions in the Vietnam War. After 41 years of service, he retired as a three star general who served in many positions; the last as Commander of the Air Force Reserve Command over 76,000 airmen worldwide and Chief of The Air Force Reserve. While visiting his airmen in Iraq and Afghanistan, he met a little 9-year old girl named Lamia outside Bagram airfield in the winter who begged him for a pair of boots like he was wearing for her cold sandaled feet. On his return and several months before his retirement in 2008, he told me about Lamia. It was at that moment we decided what we would do in retirement; help the Afghan people. We founded our mom and ngo, The Lamia Afghan Foundation. We traveled together 7 times to work in the country. We continue our work with our outstanding Afghan volunteer teamfrom our home in Nashville. It has been an honor to serve the good people of Afghanistan all these years and see the good that has come through a lot of hard work.Jan Bradley
