When you have accurate, up to date and reliable information you can plan! With an education in Town and Regional planning the statement best describes my viewpoint that has shaped my style of conceptual, analytical and solution driven thinking these past two decades. Managing as well as hands on participating in the creation of a wide collection of spatial information projects, often involving fieldwork in foreign countries, has inspired me to produce an annuity income product called Urban Growth Indicator used today by national-, local government and private telecoms industries for various planning purposes across South Africa. This product not only quantifies urban household structure types, but qualifies them as well, be it formal-, cluster-, informal-, traditional- or agricultural housing. The time spent as a Training and New Business Development Manager in the field of geomatics, imparted knowledge on how to liaise, manage and advise clients daily on "Why is this happening here and not there?". The answer is simple, if “What is happening?” is correlated with “Where it is happening” taking into account varying factors such as changing demographics, outlet classifications & turnover figures, natural or man-made barriers, modes of transport, drive time areas, lack of economic activity and all is presented in a map based context - the “Why” gets answered, not necessarily forthcoming from just looking at a spreadsheet. As Sales Engineer at TomTom South Africa, providing reliable, up to date data to our clients were vital, only experiencing the true value once applied in a project driven sales environment at Lightstone, Fernridge and now GTI. a Changing digital world opened new paths to addressing and managing the world via what3words, thus digital transformation follows a path - Visualize, Digitize, Analyze and Optimize and at IoTDot4, a 4th Industrial revolution company, this is what we do.
