Working as part of a team, I am responsible for the reception, documentation, detention and wellbeing of persons brought into custody.As well as delivering meals, administrating medication, supervising exercise, taking photos, fingerprints and DNA samples, as a detention officer it is my job to know exactly who’s in custody and what their individual needs are and to treat detainees with respect and dignity whatever their circumstances are. My job is to make sure each individual is kept secure, safe and in good health.I work in close conjunction with the Custody Sergeants, police officers, Health care professionals, Mental Health practitioners, Solicitors and other visitors to Custody. I am there to ensure that I do all I can to help officers when they bring a detainee in, ensuring that the officers can get back to their job of making the community a safer place as soon as possible. The role requires patience, compassion and discipline to treat each individual fairly regardless of their circumstances.

United Kingdom

Responsibilities- Responsible for the searching, collection and completion of the first compliance stages of ALL the PQQ and ITT processes, such as o Having up to date accounts. o Liaising with the Capita Group to ensure we have the appropriate insurances in placeo Liaising with Human Resources and Health and Safety for the most up to date information i.e. Current Tribunals or compliance with current legislation regarding the environmento Ensuring the accreditation certificates are up to dateo Ensuring Commercial review all relevant documents- Bid coordination during tender submissions- Carry out research o on potential customers and competitorso to enhance bid submissionso for potential opportunities- Solutions – calculating staffing numbers required to achieve cash savings but a deliverable solution that will not fail.- Producing rosters for Bid submission.- Assisting in the writing of tenders- Attending Site visits during the tender process- Responsible for identifying potential tenders through Capita portal and registering an interest - Arranging and/or attending ‘Hat’ meetings- Responsible for the maintenance of the SharePoint site- Responsible for collating and coordinating documents and bid information that can be used to assist future bids.

Thames Valley Area

Responsibilities- Ensuring delivery of a compliant and high quality service through the professional and operational capability of the contract management team and their staff.- Responsible for the deployment of 165 staff spread across 10 locations within a large geographical area covering three counties.- As well as the main Police contract overseeing a Home Office funded Drug Testing contract since 2003.- Liaison with Thames Valley Police personnel up to Chief Superintendent.- Compiling the end of month board report for the Regional Contract Manager.- Reviewing of budgets monthly with Contract Accountant.- Preparation of Budgets for year end, 4+8 and 8+4.- Recruitment of sufficient staff to ensure contract compliance and meet the needs of the business.- Ensuring the contract is Health and Safety compliant.- Health and Safety Responsible person - Ensuring all personnel management requirements are conducted in an efficient and timely manner i.e. sickness / grievance / disciplinary investigations;- To ensure effective projection of training requirements both internally and with the Thames Valley Police for both Initial Training course and Annual refresher training requirements.- Carry out Investigations and hearings within the Thames Valley Police Contract and also across other Police Contracts, FSS and YJB.- Being part of a 24/7 Senior Management team Rota to support the Duty Manager and to deploy for serious incidents as required.- Responsible for developing the Continuous Development team for Staff.- Ensure regular submissions of Recognition awards for staff and promote and encourage the engagement of the Customer in using this scheme.- Ensuring completion of Annual Personal Development reviews for staff.- Ensure succession training for identified individuals- Sourcing business opportunities within the contract.- Liaising with Hampshire Police to provide Detention Officers on an Ad hoc basis.
