I have worked for Racker for 16 years supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. I started out as a Family Support Coordinator, was promoted to Senior Family Support Coordinator, Fiscal Intermediary, and currently, I have been a Self-Direction Broker for the past 5-years. As a Senior Family Support Coordinator, I wore many hats. I wrote Staff Action Plans, trained and supervised numerous Community Support Professionals I have provided educational advocacy through Equal Partners Project to families and individuals receiving CPSE and CSE supports and services. I taught First Aide/CPR, was a POMS/CQL assessor ensuring that the services that we provide are person centered. I headed up recreational and over night respites. Planning fun activities such as dances and Karaoke with Santa, Valentines dances, dinner and a movie, attending hockey and baseball games, etc. I also two resource fairs where I invited numerous agencies to participate by setting up booths where families and individuals could attend and gain information on all the services that were available to help support them. Both events were very well attended and much appreciated by the families and individuals that we support. As a Self-Direction broker, I assist individuals and their families with creating a self-directed budget through OPWDD that is person centered and meets their individualized needs. I attend Life Plan meetings, write Staff Action Plans, assist with finding and maintaining staff, I received the Racker Inspiration Award for all of my hard work and dedication to the individuals and families that I support as well as inspiring my co-workers. I also received the Dave Clark "Pulling Each Other Along" Award.
