Jan E. Espelid is a Norwegian native turned into a South African for a month or two every year. Because, in case you didn't know it, Norwegians do get a lot of winter back home.Jan has been writing about golf since 1986. Currently he's the Editor-at-Large of Golferen.no, founded in 2004. He also has his English golf blog MigrantGolfer.com. Both sites are published by Papaya, a communications company founded by his wife Margaret (also a writer) in 1994. Jan's therefore in the fortunate situation of having the same boss at home and in the office.Before joining Papaya, Jan was the Editor-in-Chief of Norsk Golf for ten years. With 80.000 subscribers it's a major golf magazine by European measures. Jan has also written for several other golf magazines in Norway, Denmark and Sweden. For years, he's been a contributor with expert statements and commentaries for TV, radio, magazines and newspapers.He is a member of Moss & Rygge Golfklubb in Norway, Humewood Golf Club in South Africa and Doonbeg Writers Club at the Doonbeg Lodge on the West Coast of Ireland. He is on the Advisory Board for The Links Association, an organization that caters for the true links courses of the world.Jan probably would not survive without golf, his winter retreat in South Africa, his Kindle, red wine, sparkling water, single malt and a generous steak every Friday night.
