Background: Mr. Jan Ewing began his career as a USAF B-52 aircraft avionics technician in 1979. Selected under a competitive program, he received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1989 from Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio. He subsequently graduated from Officer’s Training School and received an Air Force officer commission December 1989. Mr. Ewing has supported multiple aircraft acquisition programs as a support equipment engineer for the B-2 bomber and F-22 programs. In 1995 he was reassigned to the Falcon AFB, CO Space Applications Project Office (SAPO) under the congressionally chartered Tactical Exploitation of National Capabilities (TENCAP) program tasked to oversee several concept exploration and prototyping projects leveraging national satellite capabilities. He continued space systems support in Colorado Springs including USAF Satellite Control Network and ground communications site sustainment. He was then transferred to Robins AFB, GA to the F-15 fighter program office where he developed and implemented a broad strategy for aircraft wiring system integrity culminating in a project to rewire 176 selected F-15 aircraft that will fly until 2025 or beyond. The project has successfully rewired all 176 aircraft to date removing nearly all existing wiring including polyimide wiring that has plagued the fleet with significant wire burns for years. During his tenure with the F-15 he retired as a Major in the USAF and continued supporting the F-15 as a civil servant until his transfer to the C-5 aircraft program office leading the C-5 Wiring Integrity Reliability Enhancement Strategy (WIRES) program focused on C-5 initiatives to ensure system availability through 2040. Mr. Ewing was owner / president of Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems Consulting, LLC providing consulting expertise in aviation Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems(EWIS) issues, testing, troubleshooting, modification, condition assessment, sustainment, etc.Retired July 2022
