I was the former Director of “Medics Without Vacation”ngo, where I worked from 1998 till the end of October 2012. I started my career as a nurse in a primary health care project in former Zaire in 1988, where I was active till 1990. Prior to joining Medics Without Vacation and after I came back from Zaire, I worked a few years in Belgian hospitals. In 1995, I became involved in MWV, first as a volunteer and from 1998 on as an employee under contract. I worked with MWV in various capacities, including Field Coordinator which have taken me to RDCongo, Rwanda, Burundi, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, South Africa, Lesotho, Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya. Later I became Head of Projects and from 2008 on, I have been leading MWV. Under my guidance, MWV grew from a small organization to a respected NGO that sends nowadays over 170 medical teams to African hospitals. Since 2012, I'm the director of "The Walking Egg"-project. I have overseen advocacy communications at all levels and worked extensively in program management as well as administration and financial management. I specialized in Public Health in Leiden (The Netherlands) and followed completion courses in management and human resources. I'm also a Board Member of MWV, Mamas for Africa and Bond Zonder Naam (Chairman of the Board till April 2016)
