It gets much easier if you can modify the part geometry.- The right technology depends on typical shape, material, required mechanical properties, production volume and other conditions.- It is basically a metal powder welding. You should add an offset to tolerated surfaces for finishing operations.- The system producer has its own material portfolio. They have process parameters tuned for those materials. Process parameter development for other materials is up to you. The powder must have specific geometry and must be weldable.- Materials and dimensions are the key parameters when selecting the machine. Other values are not as important. They are adjusted for optimal overall performance according to the size and physics. You should care more about quality control, maintenance intervals, material exchange downtime and ease of use.- If you plan real additive production, it is time to calculate costs.
