Jan Marks offers significant strategic and financial expertise, having served as CFO of Hakkasan Group and related companies since 2006. His broad financial oversight of the company contributed to its rapid growth. He was responsible for managing all global financial and accounting functions, including assisting in the formulation of the Company’s strategic direction, supporting tactical initiatives, developing fiscal and tax strategies, financial reporting, supporting capital requests and budgeting processes, and overseeing risk management operations. He also oversaw the group's HR, IT, FP&A, Construction/Development and Legal functions and was a key contributor to the executive team.Prior to Hakkasan Group, Jan served as CFO at two predecessor companies in Las Vegas. He began his career as an associate with JMB Realty Corporation in Chicago, where his responsibilities included the underwriting, financing, acquisition and development of commercial real estate assets. Following business school, he joined Solomon Brothers in New York where he focused on the telecom sector, after spending time in London working in emerging markets coverage. He also served as a Director in the Global Communications Group for Citigroup prior to joining the Global M&A Group at Citigroup with a continued focus on the telecom sector. During his banking career, he contributed to the firm’s relationship coverage of telecom clients. He was an integral part of the team that managed the IPO of Global Crossing and raised $9 billion of debt and equity capital for the company. He also participated as an advisor on more than $50 billion of announced or closed M&A activity. During this time he gained significant international transaction experience for clients in Hong Kong, Japan, Colombia and Russia.Jan obtained a BA in History and a BSE in Finance, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Benjamin Franklin Scholar, and an MPPM (MBA) from the Yale School of Management.
