In addition, I currently have the technical responsibility for two product platforms. As technical lead I am coordinating the science and engineering teams within the framework of development projects. Sub-components are developed in collaboration with overseas locations. Part of this work is coordinating system verification and ensuring a smooth transition to series production. My activities include developing the infrastructure in the department, such as planning laboratories and office workspace, as well as modern IT infrastructure and work equipment. I am responsible for several development laboratories. For organization of the teams, I use agile working methods, such as Scrum, in combination with waterfall-based project planning. The successful transfer to series production is done by close collaboration with suppliers and the operational teams. The programming of software procedures in the instrument, which my team and I develop, plays a central role in this. To make data-based and efficient decisions, I use my own Python-based programs and Jupyter notebooks. The programming language C/C++ is used for interfaces and laboratory setups. I co-author publications for scientific journals and conferences and protect intellectual property through patent applications. Patent research is also part of this. I support ongoing series production by providing technical answers to customer inquiries, chanelled through product management and support departments. Show less

Together with a colleague, I developed a mass spectrometer in microsystems technology. Based on a high-frequency plasma electron source and manufacturing concepts from previous dissertations, we developed, manufactured and characterized a planar concept using silicon-glass composite technology. The aim was to overcome challenges known from classical ion optics and mass spectrometry and to make use of scaling effects in miniaturization. We were able to demonstrate the basic function and record the first mass spectra. Our research results were published at scientific conferences, in scientific journals and as our dissertation. They formed the basis for further projects at the Institute of Microsystems Technology.
