About Jan Peters

My group's research is concerned with how we envision the future, how we remember the past, and how these processes affect the choices that we make. To this end, we combine methods from cognitive neuroscience (fMRI, EEG, pharmacology, lesion studies) with behavioural approaches from cognitive psychology and behavioural economics. In particular, ongoing projects are concerned with i) the mechanisms underlying short-sighted impulsive behaviour in addiction and in adolescence, ii) the role of dopamine in impulse control and iii) the role of hunger and satiety related hormones in regulating choice behaviour.
