About Jan Phlegar

Jan Phlegar is an advisor on Education and has over 35 years of experience designing, managing and leading large-scale efforts to improve education. She is the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, Clerk for the Margarita Muñiz Academy (two way bilingual high school in Boston), and several other organizations including TEDxNatick and Engaging Schools. Jan has written and presented on issues of equity and at-risk students, teacher leadership, professional development, and using technology to support innovation. Prior to her career at WestEd, she served as a Program Director for Close Up, a researcher for the Booker T. Washington Papers Project, and as a middle and high school teacher.
