Today, as CEO, she is responsible for the MEGAS corporate development and business strategy, with an emphasis on product design and development.Ms. Powell brings more than thirty years of software development experience to this role, specifically in the healthcare vertical market. Before and during her work at MEGAS, Ms. Powell has managed large healthcare billing operations and provided healthcare consulting services. Her specific area of concentration for many years has been electronic data interchange (EDI). Currently emphasis is on the X12 ANSI transaction sets and operating rules and their implementation on both the provider and payer sides to affect accurate coding, compliance and reimbursement while advancing healthcare toward a real-time environment. Under her management, MEGAS was one of the earliest adopters of the ANSI X12 transaction sets. As early as 1994, prior to the HIPAA mandate, MEGAS was the first software developer in the nation to successfully submit production claims to NEIC (now Emdeon) using the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) x12 transaction set. Ms. Powell is an out-spoken proponent for expanding the adoption of the ANSI transactions by healthcare entities. To that end, MEGAS is currently a member of the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) and the (ANSI) Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 for the insurance industry.Today, MEGAS software products, branded under the name Alpha II Software Solutions, range from hosted SaaS solutions to software developer toolkits to custom development contracts for Governmental healthcare entities.
