in Healthcare from the age of 17 when I started as a health care assistant i developed a focus on CVD nursing and education. A career history which has included chairing a National CVD Professional Charity, being the National CVD Primary Care Nurse Advisor for DH and now the roles you see below where I train in a unique manner across the UK on cardiovascular disease management and prevention and communication.The training style of Edutainment, as it has been described, has led to Et al training developing a data base of thousands of self registered professionals who wish to be informed if we are commissioned to be in their geographical area. The attraction is said to be the informal often powerpoint free, story telling and using characters such as the "Hepatitis Virus" who drops his pants, clarifying the role of e antigens or the "Patronising Pamphlet" who waxes lyrical about how you could improve your health, to stimulate delegates to reflect on their own style when offering advice and their impact. Using props for group engagement and making memorable links to learning when back in practice has led to the well known motivational Interviewing study day being called the "Monkey" course. This slightly irreverent and lighthearted style possibly goes along way to making this approach the massive success that it is.Maintaining a part time role as a practice nurse keeps both my feet firmly on the very real ground.
